Dear Friends & Family,
As many of you know, I'll be running my third consecutive NYC Marathon on Sunday, November 6th! But what many of you don't know is that for the last year and a half, I've spent my Saturday afternoons mentoring a high-achieving, low-income high school student as part of an organization called Minds Matter. Minds Matter is a comprehensive three-year program that empowers young people from low-income families to achieve college readiness and success.
Minds Matter helped my mentee attend a summer program for high school students at Boston University (all expenses paid!) and we're using that experience to help her with college applications. It's been amazing to see the impact Minds Matter has on these students, and that impact is reflected in the fact that 100% of students enrolled in the program go on to attend college.
I'm running the 2016 NYC Marathon to enable Minds Matter to offer this incredible opportunity to more and more students - because everyone deserves to go to college. No donation amount is too small and thank you so much for your support!
MORE ON MINDS MATTER:
The mission of Minds Matter of NYC is to transform the lives of accomplished high school students from low-income families by broadening their dreams and preparing them for college success.
We utilize the power of 500 adult volunteers to serve over 170 students in their pursuit of a college education through mentoring, writing and critical thinking instruction, and SAT prep. Since our inception in 1991, the effectiveness of Minds Matter has been affirmed- 100% of our students have been accepted to four-year colleges and universities.
