santwana dasgupta wrote -I have been volunteering for P.E.C.A since 2006. Back then the community in Khost only wanted to educate their girls till 4th grade. Each year the girls asked for one more year and next year we are graduating the first group of 20 girls from high school in this remote volatile district of Afghanistan. Access to health care is precarious in this area. The community is requesting that 12 girls be sent to two years of midwife training to become "half doctors" and join this growing movement in Afghanistan, where 18 to 20 year old girls are providing so much care that the average life span in Afghanistan has risen, in 12 years, from 47 to almost 60. Please join us in this success story to bring health care and wormen's empowerment to Khost, Afghanistan. We are new to Crowdrise and hope to raise $5000 towards this cause.
