EVENT: 2017 Boston Marathon
EVENT DATE: Apr 17, 2017
Having run the 2016 Boston Marathon and coming up a few miles short, I feel that there are many things that I can and will do differently to FINISH STRONG. One, creating a training regiment that includes more runs, more miles, and running with water. Two, running with people more and maybe joining the Hopkinton Running Club for weekend runs. Three, eating and drinking better in the days, weeks, and months leading up the race. Four, leaning on my family and friends for support throughout the race....sorry if I quickly ran past you last year...but enjoying the run more and not putting as much pressure on myself to finish in a certain time. All I want to do is FINISH STRONG. Using the motivation of other marathon runners, I hope to run and train and push myself beyond what I was capable of last year. I hope to make the Lisnow Center proud and again raise awareness for them this year.
The Lisnow Center was extremely supportive of my efforts last year, and I continue to be amazed at their mission. Not only did they come to a Fay School Fun Run last fall and cheered on our students, but they hosted me the day before the race and had cheering sections along the course. Wendy and Ricardo were FANTASTIC throughout the process, and I was able to bring my family to a pre-race rally where we met Michael's family, other clients, workers, and of course, the team.

THE MICHAEL LISNOW RESPITE CENTER wrote -
The Michael's Miracle Marathon Team is a Boston Marathon team to benefit The Michael Lisnow Respite Center. The Respite Center is an official B.A.A. charity that provides services for children and adults with disabilities. We have several programs which include our Adult Day Program, Weekend Respite, After School Care, Day Care (birth - 3yrs), Employment Support for Individuals with Disabilities and Residential Placements.
As we begin 2017 and our 18th Boston Marathon season, our goal is to continue to increase respite and support services for families trying to survive the challenges of raising a child with disabilities. Last year the Respite Center raised just over $600,000 with a team of 72 runners. These funds made it possible to grant scholarships and also provide over 40,000 hours of service to families in need.
