EVENT DATE: Nov 06, 2016
As you already know, our beloved four legged family members, Spanky and Buddie, are rescue dogs. After we adopted Spanky, I would often reflect on how his rescue from a kill shelter has enriched my life in so many ways. I often give thanks to the hard work that goes into finding homes for animals and the resulting love they can bring your family.
About a year ago, I took up running as a challenge for myself to get outside more. I often do training runs with Spanky in Prospect Park and found more and more enjoyment in it. I then discovered Miles For Paws, which combined my love of animals being rescued with that of running. Spanky and I did an official 5k together and I fell in love with this charity.
As I now train for my first ever NYC marathon, and first marathon ever. --- I am working with the team at Miles for Paws to raise money for their cause.
Miles For Paws is the fitness team of the Alliance for NYC's Animals — and needs help to increase awareness and fundraising to benefit the littlest New Yorkers!
Since the inception of the Alliance, more than a quarter-million lives have been saved. While this is tremendous progress, more work is yet to be done, and more lives are yet to be saved. As with many challenges — including races — the last few miles can be the most difficult.
I truly value and appreciate all the support.
