The Matrix Human Services Center (Matrix Center) is located on Detroit's eastside and serves the community 360 days a year, Monday thru Friday from 6:30am to 10 pm and weekends, 8 am to 5 pm. Donated funds will be used to continue our mission of providing a "Hand Up" to one of the poorest Zipcodes in Detroit.
Below are just a few of the Matrix Center's service outcomes for 2016
Each month upwards of 2,000 Detroit and suburban residents visit the Center for much needed services.
Over 1,500 community residents and families have benefited from Center emergency food programs, including the Forgotten Harvest weekly free food distribution on the 2nd, 3rd and 4th Tuesday of each month.
670 children and youth received a new winter coat.
Over 1,000 children and youth have participated in onsite after school, weekend and summer enrichment and recreational activities.
Since the Matrix’s Center’s opening in 1997, over 15,000 Detroit adults, youth and children have taken advantage of onsite education, workforce development, computer training, literacy, GED and early childhood programs.
On an annual basis the Matrix Center’s Harvest Fest (October), Thanksgiving Dinner (November), Angel Tree (December), Osborn Parade (August) and Give-a-Away Days (quarterly) have an event attendance of 200 to 2,000 people. These large events are accomplished through the collaboration and support of the Matrix Center Mission Partners, corporate sponsors and Matrix Center volunteer network.
Matrix Human Services (Matrix), a 501 (C) (3) community based and non-profit agency, was founded in 1906 by a small and generous group of women who recognized the importance of helping the less fortunate who migrated to Detroit seeking a new life and finding them in an unfamiliar environment.
