I am raising money to purchase supplies for hurricane Sandy's 4 pawed victims. Along with the devastating amount of homeless people comes an enormous number of homeless animals. Many shelters were totally destroyed or severely damaged. The shelters that were not damaged are now filled far beyond their capacity. Many shelters have lost electricity, but continue to care for the animals that reside there. It has become very cold very fast in this area and many animals are cold, wet, and crowded. Shelters are working as hard as possible to care for as many pets as they can, but if the community doesn't step up many animals will be euthanized.
Shelters around the affected areas are in great need of blankets, towels, food, cleaning supplies, dog beds, and much more.
I have a car full of gas so I plan on collecting and purchasing supplies and distributing them to a number of shelters and temporary shelters in this area.
Anything you can contribute is much appreciated. The money will make a lot of animals more comfortable and hopefully prevent as many as possible from being euthanized. If you care about animals this is the time to step up. There are many people contributing to the effort but it is simply not enough. Any amount of money can make a difference. Even if you contribute enough for one blanket or one towel, that will make one animal warmer and more comfortable.
Thank you for your consideration,
