BENEFITING: LINCOLN PARK ZOOLOGICAL SOCIETY
ORGANIZER: LINCOLN PARK ZOOLOGICAL SOCIETY
EVENT DATE: Oct 13, 2013
Back in November 2012, I decided that after completing a 10k that this was the year that I was going to train for my first ever marathon! I chose to run on behalf of Lincoln Park Zoo because I whole-heartedly believe in its mission, not because “it’s where I work”. Lincoln Park Zoo is a world-leader in animal conservation and research, but it’s also an urban oasis in the heart of Chicago, giving millions of families the opportunity to learn, explore and spend time together….did I mention, all for free?!
This year has definitely had its ups and downs – I got engaged to the love of my life, but I also lost my dad and grandmother. We get knocked down in life, but I am a firm believer in that life is how you handle those moments. Instead of quitting, I decided to run "with a few angels" – I can’t wait to cross the finish line with the two of them by my side!
Running has been a way of therapy to process what life handed me this year. To reflect on the 26 wonderful years I had with my father, to plan our wedding, to create a marketing strategy for my next Real Estate deal, and I’ve even made a few new friends along the way!
I am asking you now to please support me as I head into the final month of my training. I hope you can make it to watch me run on Sunday, October 13th!
