LBD 5k: Lace up to Bring Lewy Down
EVENT DATE: Jun 10, 2017
Lewy Body Dementia (LBD for short) is the second most common type of progressive dementia and is often associated with Parkinson's disease. LBD 5k: Lace up to Bring Lewy Down has two goals: first, to raise funds for Lewy Body Dementia Association (LBDA) and second, to raise awareness. LBDA provides support and resources to those affected by Lewy Body Dementia while promoting research into the disease. This event's organizer found too often that it was easier just to tell people her father had Parkinson's without mentioning LBD since so many had never heard of it. Let's lace up our running (or walking) shoes to help find a cure for this disease so that in the future we may never hear of LBD again!
For those who knew and loved him, this 5k is in memory of Dan Crifo, the father of the organizer. He was a beloved husband, father and Pop whose greatest pleasure was supporting his family members' endeavors. LBD and Parkinson's took him from us far too soon, though we know he'll be cheering from the sidelines as we run (and walk) to Bring Lewy Down.
