Safe and sound

Thank you for entertaining your interest in my climb.
So, this summer, instead of planning a backpacking trip, I’ve registered with Summit For Someone. Summit for Someone is a mountaineering program where you can volunteer to raise money for Big City Mountaineers, a mentor program that pairs urban youth with mountain loving adults and takes them on wilderness expeditions to broaden their perspective on the world. It’s an awesome program, and they need money to do what they do.
Ultimately, Summit for Someone allows you to choose to climb one of the classic peaks in support of Big City Mountaineers. I have chosen Mount Rainier in Washington.
Through my climb, I will be raising $4,500 for Big City Mountaineers. Every dollar generated from this fundraiser will be matched by corporate sponsors of the BCM program, and will be used to directly impact the lives of urban youth through wilderness mentoring. By summiting Mt. Rainier this summer, I will provide these youth access to something they otherwise may never have the opportunity to do.
So, now I need your help. If you think it’s important for our youth to get outside, please consider donating to the cause (click below) and sharing with friends who feel the same. I’m a teacher, so I care about this kind of stuff. I’m willing to bet you do too. $4,500 is due by May 20. Game on people!
