Ovarian cancer preyed upon and finally overwhelmed my partner, Susan von Salis. She wasn't a rock climber, but she hiked up mountains with our son and I, even when she was very sick. Please join the HERA Ovarian Cancer Foundation's fight to eliminate ovarian cancer so other women, and their families and friends don't have to go through what we did.
At Climb4Life Boston, hosted by MetroRock climbing gym, you can enjoy a fun-filled day of climbing, fitness, yoga, and fun; you can just attend the Summit Party at the end of the day and bid on amazing silent auction items; or you can just make a donation to HERA, no matter how small (click the orange button on this page).
Climb4Life Boston 2017, September 9, 1-5 pm, includes clinics with professional climbers, competition and other special climbing walls, a very well-stocked silent auction, and a tribute wall to those we've lost. Top fundraisers will win awesome prizes like camping and climbing gear from vendors like Arc'teryx, Dry Ice Tools, and many more.Whether you are a survivor or family member of one, a beginning climber or experienced mountaineer, or a person whose life has been affected by cancer – Climb4Life Boston is for you. Women, men, children and families – all abilities, all ages, and all levels- are welcome! Climbing registration: $55 ($25 for children under 14); Summit Party/silent auction only: $35 ($12.50 for under 14). Register at www.crowdrise.com/CLIMB4LIFEBOSTON2017
If you register, please also try to raise $250, which HERA makes easy to do, and could earn you cool prizes!
About Ovarian Cancer
Ovarian cancer is often called the “silent killer” because the early symptoms are subtle and difficult to diagnose. If caught early enough, many women survive, but without an early detection test and awareness of the symptoms, another 15,000 women will die from this disease this year. One in 75 women will be diagnosed with ovarian cancer in their lifetime. Which means the odds are that someone in your life will be affected by this disease.
Your Donation at Work
The funds you donate or raise will help HERA Ovarian Cancer Foundation make grants to Johns Hopkins University researchers and the dream team at Stand Up To Cancer that HERA is collaboratively funding to find a cure and more effective diagnosis of ovarian cancer. It will also help us raise awareness of the sometimes elusive signs and symptoms of this insidious disease.
