KEESHA'S MAGNIFICENT MOUNT KILIMANJARO CLIMB
Organized by: Lakeesha Harris
THE STORY:
Yes! You read that right. I'm going up a mountian! And not any Mountain. I'm taking it all the way to the motherland and home of Lucy, the first uncovered human on the planet.
Mount Kilimanjaro is called the seat of Africa, because it is the highest point on the continent. It is a most fierce climb with one of the most beautiful of landscapes. To climb Mt. Kilimanjaro is to pass seven climate zones in a nine day trek, going from the humid rainforest to the coldest temperatures at its peak. Climbing this Tanzanian Mountain and paying homage to our ancestors in the cradle of where life began, would be a dream come true for me.
I am are raising funds not only for the cost of the climb and necessary supplies but all remaining proceeds will go to three organizations that I hold dear to my heart. My fundraising goal is to reach $15k, that’s 10K for my journey and 5k to be distrubuted between the below listed organizations.
Chicago Women’s Health Center (Chicago)
Women With A Vision (New Orleans)
TBD (Tanzania)
When discussing this climb with my friend Nicole, she said "Honey, you're not going up a mountain. You are climbing to the top of yourself, reaching the highest most limits of your mind and self determination."
This climb is indeed a R{E}volutionary act of healing. This is the me that is reaching within her divine self and pulling out what is neccessary to, not only survive, but thrive. It is represents of all of the strength and courage that I have to share with myself and the world.
It also symbolizes my alliance with my sisters on the ground, around the globe, providing their heart, hands and healing services. My whole life I've witnessed women moving mountains for their families, communities and the planet earth. These women, my elders and sisters, have provided countless amounts of meals, safe spaces to live and heal, as well as numerous hours of health and human services. Many of them serving solely on faith and determination. I'm with you.
Sincerley and With All of My Love,

Nothing can ever repay you for what you did for me both during my miscarriage when you just showed up. Alot of people use words to love others and few actually show up. You tought me that when you see a need you fill it. You also helped me survive my high risk pregnancy, traumatic birth,Sebastian's long ISCU stay and tumultuous postpartum depression. I can't wait see pictures of you at the summit. Love and light. In memory of my little ones lost too soon. 4 years ago
