BENEFITING: Joslin Diabetes Center
ORGANIZER: Joslin Diabetes
EVENT: 2017 Boston Marathon
EVENT DATE: Apr 17, 2017
Hi Everyone! My sister Elena and I are running in support of our grandfather, Dr. Edward Horton Sr., who has devoted his career to diabetes research. We are representing the Joslin Diabetes Center, a nonprofit institution whose mission is to prevent, treat, and cure diabetes. We're honored to raise money for a cause that impacts our family and millions of others around the world.
I'm a senior at Harvard University, studying American History and Literature, and I've been a runner for most of my life. My first 5k, when I was 10, was for the American Diabetes Association; now, at 23, I'm thrilled to run my first marathon in support of diabetes research. It is a dream come true to run the Boston Marathon with my sister - we're looking forward to representing Joslin and are incredibly grateful for all the support along the way!
Joslin is an amazing organization committed to finding a cure for diabetes. Here is some more info from them on the work that they do:
Founded in 1898, Joslin Diabetes Center is world-renowned for its deep expertise in diabetes treatment and research. Joslin is dedicated to finding a cure for diabetes and ensuring that people with diabetes live long, healthy lives.
We develop and disseminate innovative patient therapies and scientific discoveries throughout the world. Joslin is an independent, non-profit institution affiliated with Harvard Medical School, and a federally-funded Diabetes Research Center.
