Every little bit helps

Mt. Shasta is a gorgeous volcanic peak in norhtern California. The snow-covered West Face is an ideal route for learning ice axe and crampon skills, and instructors from Shasta Mountain Guides will make sure I am prepared. Over the three-day climb we’ll set up a basecamp in Hidden Valley, where we’ll stage our (hopefully!) successful summit bid. The route offers a much less crowded way of reaching the summit.
I'm covering my guide costs and providing my own equipment so every penny I raise for this climb goes to cover event costs and Big City Mountaineers. They in turn use the money to get kids into the outdoors. They are a very cool organization. If you don't beleive me google them and see.
Big City Mountaineers transforms the lives of under-resourced urban youth through wilderness mentoring expeditions that instill critical life skills. We partner with community-based youth organizations and caring adult volunteers who act as mentors in the field to help young people realize their potential. Our curriculum improves integrity, self- esteem, responsibility, decision-making abilities and communication skills in close to 1,000 youth annually.
