Inward Bound Mindfulness Education (iBme) is a non-profit organization dedicated to improving the lives of teens. Through mindfulness retreats, wilderness retreats, and school programs, iBme empowers young people to connect with and care for themselves, one another, and the natural world. We provide a proven retreat experience that fosters personal growth, supportive relationships, and the skills to know and to be oneself.
Ultimately, iBme aims to support the next generation of diverse, heart-centered leaders who are prepared to respond to the challenges of their time with focus, resiliency, and compassion - aware of and able to effectively manage their emotions, compassionate toward their peers and communities, and capable of focusing their attention on life-affirming goals.
iBme is committed to accessibility. No one is turned away from an iBme teen retreat for lack of funds. Last year iBme gave $123,000 in financial aid for teens to attend retreat. With more retreats scheduled than ever before the demand continues to grow.
“Today for the first time I found myself offering myself kindness in a troubling moment. It was such an amazing experience to realize that I could actually want myself to be happy! I have so much admiration for all the teachers and staff on these retreats... it is just incredible what happens on these retreats.” -Liota, age 16
Now in its fifth year of existence, Inward Bound Mindfulness Education (iBme) has emerged as a leader in the field of mindfulness education; we are the only organization in the country dedicated to leading mindfulness retreats for adolescents.
On our retreats, we combine periods of mindfulness meditation and loving kindness practices with small group discussions, mindful movement, and creative workshops – nature walks, drawing, mindful sports, theater games, poetry and facilitated discussions on topics such as gender, diversity, and social justice.
"It seems like all teens should go to an iBme retreat. It would really change the world. I know it has changed mine." -Rachel
