Rachel Schmidt's Fundraiser:

On Sunday, November 6, runners from all over the world will convene in New York City for the New York City Marathon. I will be running with Team Imerman Angels to make an impact in the lives of cancer fighters, survivors and caregivers.

When I was sick, my radiation oncologist told me I'd likely never run fast again, and would certainly never qualify for Boston or be on a podium. I've already proved him wrong many times, but I plan to use this race to prove him wrong again by qualifying for Boston and showing other stem cell/bone marrow transplant/leukemia survivors what's really possible.

The mission of Imerman Angels really resonated with me, as I didn't have a mentor when I was sick. I didn't have someone who had been through it at my age, with young children, who could understand. And I really needed that. So now I'm being that for other people.
