I’ve lived in California for nearly 7 full years. Those years have been some of the best of my life. From rowing and studying at Stanford to working in San Francisco, I’ve grown fond of the Bay Area and have come to call it home. In recent years, however, I’ve begun to look beyond the sunshine and palm trees and can’t help but notice some very serious problems in my new home. I knew that rent here is among the highest in the country, and the growing economic inequality in the area is indicative of a much larger national trend. But what I didn’t know was that these factors have made homelessness a major problem right here in Silicon Valley. I was stunned to learn that around the corner from places like Apple and Google you could find one of the largest homeless populations in the country.
Upon learning about these issues i knew I had to take action. That's why I'm proud to serve as the founding Vice Chair of the IVSN NextGen Advisory Board. We are a diverse set of young professionals in the Bay Area who are committed increasing awareness of the problem of homelessness to our peers and utilizing our unique skills to help homeless people in our community.
Will you help me fight homelessness by making a donation to IVSN? Your support will enable us to help our clients break the cycle of homelessness.
