At just 17 months old, Niels was diagnosed with a Glioblastoma Multiforme, the most aggressive type of brain tumor. Although Niels' family lived in Seattle, his doctors recommended Proton Beam Radiation Therapy in Boston as the safest option for him. Niels' parents, Aurelia and Wilbert, were worried that they wouldn't be able to afford staying in Boston for the 12-week treatment. This is when a friend recommended they contact Hospitality Homes...
Hospitality Homes is a 503(c) non-profit organization that provides temporary housing in volunteer host homes and other donated accommodations for families and friends of patients seeking care in Boston-area medical centers. Aurelia and Wilbert were so thankful to discover they were eligible to stay in one of the organization’s donor homes.
After the treatment Aurelia said, “We can’t imagine how we would have managed without Hospitality Homes…They found us a wonderful place to stay so close to the hospital”. Niels is now back home and recovering in great spirits!
Niels is just one of many whose lives were touched by Hospitality Homes. To see more please look here.
