The Maryland Challenge - 40 Miles on the AT in One Day
I challenge myself and a group of women to hike 40 miles of the Maryland portion of the Appalachian Trail in one day, June 11th. I have volunteered seven years on the board of American Hiking Society and been its chair for over two. My absolute passion is hiking and being able to share the outdoors with my kids, students and other women that drives me to make a difference for American Hiking Society and beyond. I believe that hiking on our most scenic trails to ones locally enables us a personal opportunity to find joy with our family, peace within ourselves, majesty in the natural art and adrenaline for thrill seeking. Therefore, I challenge myself to hike all of the Maryland Appalachian Trail in one day to demonstrate my strength personally and to raise money for American Hiking Society, an organization that works tirelessly to advocate, educate and steward our national trails so we can hike and enjoy the outdoors. My fundraising goal is $1,000 to enhance the organization’s stewardship programs - Volunteer Vacations and National Trails Day. Will you join me today in contributing to my challenge?
