Drokpa is a grassroots organization in Nepal with longstanding, excellent work in the rural areas of Mustang and Dolpo. It was co-founded by Sienna Craig, who I (Jake Norton) studied with in Nepal in 1993.
While both Mustang and Dolpo sustained damage in the April 25 quake, and funds will be channeled there to assist with rebuilding and recovery, Drokpa will also direct funds to hard hit areas like Gorkha and Rasuwa through vetted and effective partner organizations.
Your support of DROKPA will be channeled toward temporary housing and rebuilding efforts in the village of Ghiling, Mustang District, and, as funds allow and direct connections warrant, other needs in Mustang as well as Tsharka village, Dolpa District, affected communities in northern Gorkha District (Nubri and Tsum valleys), the Nar-Phu regions of Manang District, and northern Rasuwa District.
These are regions that have been historically underserved and marginalized by the Nepali government, and disaster relief and long-term response is no exception.
Please consider donating to support these efforts.
