EVENT DATE: Oct 25, 2014
Calling all Halloween fanatics, arts lovers and semi-fitness enthusiasts! Don your costumes, grab your friends and join us for the 1st Annual Hallowbaloo 'Marathon' - A Fun Run for the Arts. The race will take place at the beginning of this year’s Hallowbaloo festival – an event that draws 10,000+ costumed masqueraders to Honolulu's Chinatown Arts District each year. We are thrilled to add this fun event to Hallowbaloo and help arts organizations share their stories and raise valuable funds!
THE RACE: The Hallowbaloo 'Marathon' race course is one-block long - all within festival grounds. To call yourself a Hallowbaloo 'Marathon' FINISHER, you must complete at least four laps around the block (1.0 mile). You also have the option of completing the LONG course – eight laps around the block (2.0 miles). See below for race divisions, prizes and additional details. Costumed runners decked out in full Halloween regalia - completing at least four laps around the block in the heart of Chinatown. Yes - a mighty challenge! But we know you're up to the task. Join us by clicking the "Register" button above, or if you live in a land far, far away and cannot attend, click the "Donate" button to contribute to a participating arts non-profit. All will be rewarded with grand smiles.
SYNCHRONIZED START / RACE DIVISIONS / AWARDS: The Hallowbaloo 'Marathon' and Hallowbaloo festival will enjoy a synchronized start. On Saturday, Oct. 25th at 5:30pm, the Hallowbaloo 'Marathon' race gun will fire - igniting the race and festival. Stages will come to life with scintillating music, and all vending and beverage stations will open. Runners will have 45 minutes to complete the race. Prizes will be awarded for race divisions including best group costume, best dressed dog and dog owner, most spirited fundraiser/runner, and more. A grand prize of a neighbor-island vacation for two (two roundtrip inter-island airfares to Kauai and three nights at the Aqua Kauai Beach Resort) will be awarded to the most spirited fundraiser/runner. While runners roam the course, there will be loads of entertainment on festival stages and in the street. A smorgasbord of wild sights and sounds will propel you to the finish line - hordes of eye-popping costumes and a kaleidoscope of music ranging from Reggie Padilla and The Stella Bean Brass Band to Gamelan Parisuda to Activ8 Electro Jazz and more. Get your costume ready, come join the fun and support the arts in Hawai'i!
In this our inaugural year, our goal is to raise $10,000 for non-profit arts organizations. We're thrilled to announce that Burger King Hawaii, Hallowbaloo's presenting sponsor, has kicked off the fundraising by donating $1,000 to HAPA and Kumu Kahua Theatre. CrowdRise.com makes it easy and fun to celebrate, honor and show your support for participating arts non profits. We're excited about engaging the community to help us reach our goal, and we thank you in advance for your participation in this one-of-a-kind event!
