It's official! I am moving west on April 1st, and as part of my final farewell to NYC I am running the NYC Half Marathon to fundraise in support of Girls on the Run NYC.
I've been involved with GOTR NYC as a volunteer for the past four years, and I can't think of a better way to say goodbye then to contribute to this incredible organization as a SoleMate.
Entertain yourself with the thought of me actually running (or skipping or walking), and help me support GOTR NYC with a donation. Your generosity can impact the program in many ways, including:
- $35 can sponsor a pair of running shoes for one girl.
- $150 can fund healthy snacks and a pair of running shoes for 3 girls.
- $300 can support a full season scholarship, healthy snacks and running shoes for one girl.

Meeting twice a week in small teams of 8-20 girls, we teach life skills through fun, engaging lessons and conversation-based running games.
The 24-lesson curriculum is taught by certified Girls on the Run coaches and includes three parts: understanding ourselves, valuing relationships and teamwork, and understanding how we connect with and shape the world at large.
Over the course of the program, girls will develop and improve competence, feel confidence in who they are, develop strength of character, respond to others and oneself with care and compassion, create positive connections with peers and adults, and make a meaningful a contribution to community and society.
