Two words: PINCH ME! I consider myself very fortunate to be able to run the 2017 Boston Marathon in support of Girls on the Run. GOTR is a program that fosters a positive, learning community that inspires girls to be healthy, strong, independent, problem-solving little warriors!
I have had the honor of being a coach for multiple seasons as well as being a running buddy for many of the 5K's. I have seen first-hand the positive impact this program has on our girls as well as the community.
Please consider making a donation to help this program continue to thrive. Below is more information for you to read through. If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask. Volunteers are always welcome!

On April 17, 2017 the Girls on the Run Greater Boston Marathon Team, made up of 15 runners will take to the start of the Boston Marathon to help ensure that every local girl realizes her limitless potential!
Girls on the Run is a life-changing, non-profit program for girls in the 3rd through 8th grade. Our mission is to inspire girls to be joyful, healthy and confident using a fun, experience-based curriculum which creatively integrates running.
The 20-lesson Girls on the Run curriculum combines training for a 5k (3.1 miles) running event with lessons that inspire girls to become independent thinkers, enhance their problem solving skills and make healthy decisions. All of this is accomplished through an active collaboration with girls and their parents, schools, volunteers, staff, and the community.
Meeting twice a week in small teams of 8-20 girls, we teach life skills through dynamic, conversation-based lessons and running games. The curriculum is taught by certified Girls on the Run volunteer coaches and includes three parts: understanding ourselves, valuing relationships and teamwork and understanding how we connect with and shape the world at large.
Running is used to inspire and motivate girls, encourage lifelong health and fitness, and build confidence through accomplishment. At each season's conclusion, the girls and their running buddies complete the celebratory Girls on the Run 5k. Completing a 5k gives the girls a tangible sense of achievement as well as a framework for setting and achieving life goals. The result—making the seemingly impossible, possible and teaching girls that they can.
Since 2010 Girls on the Run Greater Boston has reached more than 1700 girls. Our goal is to never turn an interested girl away based on her family's ability to pay for the program. Funds raised through the Boston Marathon Official Charity Program will go towards our scholarship fund to ensure that every interested girl is able to participate and will also help us to expand into more towns, schools, and community centers to help ensure that every girl realizes her limitless potential!
