We are committed to improve the life chances and opportunities of children and their families by rethinking learning to improve the quality of education.
For more than 25 years, Fundación Escuela Nueva has transformed conventional classrooms, learning processes and educational systems in developing countries by empowering children and teachers to be the real actors of change and reform in education; shifting the educational paradigm from one centered on the teacher to one centered on the child.
We do this through the Escuela Nueva model, a proven social innovation that provides a systemic, cost-effective, replicable and scalable solution to address issues of poor quality, relevance, efficiency and sustainability in education, implementing specific curricular and classroom techniques based on active, participatory, cooperative learning; effective, experience-based training for teachers and strategies for school management and community building.
The Escuela Nueva model has rigorous research and evaluation behind it, and has evidenced improvements in academic and cognitive achievements of students; but, most importantly, it has shown this way of learning nurtures peaceful and cooperative interactions, contributes to eliminate prejudices, stereotypes, and gender biases and develops in children civic and democratic values, as well as social and entrepreneurial skills for the twenty-first century (following instructions, learning to learn, leading tasks, meeting deadlines, taking initiative, working in teams, thinking critically, and synthesizing information.)
