BENEFITING: The Fresh Air Fund
ORGANIZER: The Fresh Air Fund
EVENT DATE: Mar 15, 2015
Dear Family & Friends,
This year has been an amazing and somewhat surreal experience for me. For those who don't know, I have struggled with weight my entire life, and in April of this year I began a radical personal journey towards a permenant solution. In 6 months, I lost over 130 lbs due in large part to a rigorous diet and exercise regiment and a surgical procedure. Through this combination of factors I continue to transform my physical appearance and with each day, hopefully, add quality years to my life. The body's abilty to heal itself with proper care is truly remarkable.
Now for the running part. Prior to April, I was able to run a half mile in about seven minutes before my lungs felt like a furnace and my legs like stale bread sticks. Through daily training, I have managed to build up to runs that last two hours and to distances that exceed 10 miles. Never in my wildest did I ever think this to be possible, but I'm beginning to realize that possibility is the fuel that drives folks to do "impossible" things. Hence, I am attempting my first half marathon in March of 2015.
I decided to run for a cause and signed up with the Fresh Air Fund to help give inner city kids the chance to be active and see the possibilities outside their immediate circumstances and experience the world in a whole new light. I hope you will join me in support of this worthy cause and help me exceed my goal of raising $2000 by race day.
