In advance I want to thank you for visiting my fundraising page and for considering a contribution towards FamilyAid Boston's 2014 Marathon effort. This year's Marathon is going to be a huge event. Over 35,000 runners will run. Thousands will line the streets and national/international attention will be turned to the event following the aftermath of the 2013 marathon. Many are going to take part beyond viewing the race by contributing to worthy causes. Your contribution is one that is not taken likely. There are so many charitable organizations involved with this year's Marathon thus your dollar is one that could go in several directions. I hope you can help this organization and those families in need this year.
Since April 2011, my life has certainly taken a nice turn and I'm on a ride upward. This upward swing has taken me from places I never wish to return to and now to places I never dreamed would be possible again. Having lost my home in 2008 and knowing how tough it is to bounce around from place to place - I know how tough it can be. Those memories are a reminder of the struggle that people in similar situations face each day. Those less fortunate need help and to know that they are not alone or forgotten. Each step in assisting adds to the strength to get back up and fight again. I feel a real connection with FamilyAid Boston and thus my continued association. I don't forget how it felt then and it is incumbent upon me to continue helping.
My run this year is quite simple, to get to Hopkinton healthy, well trained and to finish with a wide smile on my face. Last year's event was one that I don't want to revisit with the ending being so unbelievable and the impact that was left on so many. I finished within 4 minutes of the explosion and the memories are still so vivid.
This will be my 3rd Boston Marathon event attended, being a pace runner in 2012, my participation in 2013 and my run again this year. This will be my 6th Marathon in just 3 years time. The training is going good thus far but the snow has impacted some of it. The next 8 weeks should be fun and with no specific time goals in mind I am carefree in my approach..
Here's to Boston AND here's to YOU, for helping. Thanks again for listening and contributing to FamilyAid Boston.

FamilyAid Boston works with families at all stages of the journey from homelessness to housing by providing homelessness prevention assistance, emergency shelter and permanent, affordable housing in conjunction with support services. Along the way, we work with families to identify and address the problems that led to their current crisis. Our goal is for the families who we serve to remain housed, stable, and able to provide for themselves long after they leave our care.
For the last three years, FamilyAid Boston has partnered with the John Hancock Non-Profit Marathon Program to raise $107,280 to help homeless families.
Last year's marathon team raised a record $50,000 to help homeless families. This year, we hope to exceed $70,000 with your help!
