Families In Schools Giving Campaign 2014
FAMILIES IN SCHOOLS IS MAKING A DIFFERENCE ACROSS THE STATE OF CALIFORNIA, WORKING WITH PARENTS, EDUCATORS, AND THE COMMUNITIES THEY LIVE IN TO MAKE SURE THAT THE VOICES OF PARENTS AND STUDENT INTEREST ARE HEARD IN SCHOOLS.
With your help, we can end our 2013-14 fiscal year in a strong financial position to take on some of the most game-changing challenges facing education in our state.
California is ranked near last when it comes to our children's ability to read at grade level by third grade. In our new role as leaders in the Campaign for Grade Level Reading, we are poised to help make a difference in the way schools help our children achieve their literacy goals. With your support, we can make some real inroads.
FIS is leading a fight in Sacramento to put parents on equal footing with teachers and school administrators through changes in how the state funds schools. Research shows that when parents are engaged, student achievement increases. It is time for Sacramento to put real teeth into its interpretation of Parent Engagement, and FIS is at the head of this agenda.
We continue to provide training to teachers, educators, community groups, and other nonprofits across the state to improve our chances of realizing permanent change in how schools and parents work together to achieve student success. With your help, FIS can continue to make California's public schools more effective through greater parent engagement.
