BENEFITING: One Love Foundation in honor of Yeardley Love
EVENT DATE: Jun 28, 2015
Hello friends and family!
This January I initiated contact with a pretty amazing organization - The One Love Foundation. One Love was created in 2010 to honor the memory of Yeardley Love, a senior at University of Virginia who was beaten to death by her ex-boyfriend just weeks before her graduation. One Love's mission is to educate, empower, and activate young people in a movement to end relationship violence. My goal as a volunteer and supporter is to help One Love in their efforts to not only create change but to engage the young adult community in a honest dialogue about relationship violence.
Did you know that 1 in 3 women will be involved in a violent relationship in her lifetime? As a survivror of this kind of violence even I was not aware of how prevelant it is. The best way to end relationship violence is through education, and One Love is doing just that through educational content and workshops presented to students, student athletes, and parents across the country. After spending time with the team at One Love, I have leared just how grassroots their efforts are. My goal is to raise $5,000 for One Love this year. That money will no doubt go directly to helping One Love reach as many people as possible in their mission to end reletionship violence.
I know many of the people who will be reading this message have children, grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Please consider a donation not just becuase you know me and this cause is personal, but because you want to help in One Love's mission to end relationship violence. Let us all be a part of changing this generation's attitude toward healthy relationships.
