EVENT: 2016 Boston Marathon
EVENT DATE: Apr 18, 2016
The Boston Marathon is one of the most exciting, challenging, awe inspiring and fun events that Boston hosts. The marathon is a tradition for many, whether it is actually running, cheering on the runners or following it on TV; it has a way of capturing us all and uniting a City. 2013 is a year that did not break runners or Boston but made us all stronger – proving how much true grit the runners and Boston has! I am honored and excited to be running again this year for the Ellie Fund.
Running for me has always been a way to stay healthy, in both mind and body. My first marathon came in 2012 – my motivation that year was my hero, my Mother. She had battled and beaten breast cancer in October 2011; her strength and courage were the foundation I needed to complete my first marathon. I found that running became so symbolic of this fight: training for a marathon changes your life and proves you are stronger than you once believed. Courage, strength, perseverance and humor are the qualities I learned from her and will be remembering as I train this winter!
What do the Boston Marathon and the Ellie Fund have in common? They will both inspire you and change the lives of many! This year I run for the families of the Ellie Fund, my family and my friends affected by breast cancer. I have been lucky enough to be a part of the Ellie Fund since 2010 and have seen first hand how amazing this group is. Meeting the families and the people who care so much is incredibly moving. I will take that inspiration for a 26.2 mile run on April 18th, 2016…join me on this journey and donate to support the Ellie Fund and all the families they are able to help.
