Dorie is our mother who just recently passed from the affects of early on-set Alzheimers. She had been afflicted with early-onset Alzheimers for 18 years. We had started seeing signs of it starting from the age of 49 up until her death at 67. Her husband, Julio, who had worked as a fisherman for many years up until he was 60, Had done his best to take care of her in her struggles, but he unfortunately succumbed to heart problems. It has been very hard to see each of her grandchildren's reaction to her slipping more and more through the years, some of them breaking down in utter shock, and others (specifically the younger ones) having just intrigue, not knowing who she once was. This is our effort to bring awareness not only to sufferers of Alzheimers but also to anyone who has known anyone afflicted with it early on. We couldn't think of a better way to memorialize her then to help another family struggling through the same agonizing process she and our family has.
