WHO WE ARE
No Barriers Warriors empowers veterans with disabilities to overcome barriers and unleash their potential. We do this through transformative, experiential learning in challenging environments for veterans with disabilities and survivors of the fallen. Simply put, No Barriers Warriors expeditions and other experiences provide a place for our participants to push themselves, both physically and mentally, and connect with other veterans in order to reignite their passion and purpose in life. We believe in harnessing adversity and reminding our participants What’s Within You is Stronger Than What’s in Your Way.
The No Barriers Life, a curriculum based around the No Barriers Life Elements, differentiates our experiences from the typical outdoor trip. We use these elements to help remind our participants what’s inside of them is stronger than anything in their way.
On an experience, veterans may learn skills such as how to safely navigate a glaciated mountain or cook a mean backcountry meal, but at the end of the day, if all we taught them was how to climb a mountain, we failed. What makes us unique is the ability to transform lives and help these brave men and women look to their future with purpose and passion.
HOW YOU CAN HELP
Support No Barriers Warriors by participating in our annual Walk with the Warriors fundraiser and show our veterans they are not alone in their journey. If you don’t want to join a team, please consider making a donation in honor of the brave men and women who have served our country. We hope you’ll notice our Gold Star rating with Guidestar and that in 2014, 89 cents of every dollar directly supported the populations we serve.

MAKE THE FIRST DONATION
Start your fundraising efforts off strong and lead by example; Making the first donation sets the precedent for others to give. Any amount is a great start. Your donation puts dollars on your page immediately and seeing your name next to those dollars reminds people that you are passionate about this cause and truly helping our nation's veterans.
Using your social media and networking platforms are a great way to spread the word – think about your Facebook/Twitter/Instagram followers and your LinkedIn connections! Use these platforms as a way to share stories and updates and then be sure to directly email your networks with a direct link to your fundraising page.
Keep in mind when you’re posting that posts don’t need to be a donation ask; share heart about why are you walking and your networks will see these messages and remember your email ask.
Your family, coworkers and friends outside your inner circle all have the potential to give. Remind them that any amount is appreciated. Ask your company if they will match your funds raised; Many companies have an employee match program you can tap into. You can also ask your employer if your fundraiser can be highlighted in the next newsletter!
Think about approaching community groups, sports leagues, local businesses to participate and local companies you do business with (your grocery store, hair salon, etc.)

Q: What is Walk with the Warriors? A: Walk with the Warriors (WWTW),is a national campaign created by No Barriers USA to show the veterans of the No Barriers Warriors program that they are not alone in their journey, and to support the life-changing programs of No Barriers USA.
Every year we come together to raise money for the veterans with disabilities we serve. In 2017, we will serve 225 veterans through the No Barriers Warriors program. All experiences offered through No Barriers Warriors are cost-free to the veteran. The average cost per veteran is over $4,000 to fully fund each participant so every dollar you raise gets us closer to serving another veteran and impacting the lives of those around them.
This grassroots fundraising effort, in partnership with Crowdrise, an online fundraising platform, travels to local communities for a series of Hometown Walks. At our Walks we offer a family-friendly environment that builds camaraderie among an existing community to rally support for our nation’s veterans.
WWTW also has a virtual walk – ANYONE can join! While everyone can't be with our warriors on their No Barriers experience, you can show your support by joining the Walk with the Warriors campaign as a virtual walker - walk with friends, family and co-workers in your own community and be a part of a nationwide effort supporting veterans with disabilities and their families.
Q: How do I participate? A: Locate a walk in your community and register! When you signup you will have three options – join as an individual, join/create a team and fundraise only. If you are not able to attend your local walk, select the “fundraise only” option to show your community support.
Q: There are no Hometown Walks in my community. How do I participate? A: You can still be a part of the Walk with the Warriors campaign by joining our walk virtually. Virtual walks takes place on or around 9/11. You can walk at your convenience. We ask that our virtual walkers walk 5-miles in honor of our nation's veterans. Wherever you are, inside or outdoors- pledge to walk 5-miles, snap a photo in action and join the movement to support veterans with disabilites.
Q: How do I personalize my fundraising page? A: Go to the Edit My Fundraiser tab. Here, you should edit the text to tell your own story about why you are walking, how it touches your heart, and why it matters. You can also upload photos to help tell your story. Share your personal goal and ask people to help you reach your fundraising goal while supporting the men and women of our armed forces.
Q: What if I can't reach my fundraising goal? A: Every dollar matters. By joining the team you are committing to do your best to reach your goal. Many will exceed it. No Barriers is committed to helping everyone achieve their fundraising goals. We’re here to help and it’s easier than you think with our fundraising tips and tools that you’ll receive via email communications, as well as find in the “Fundraising Tips” tab above. We also have milestones and scheduled contests set up to keep everyone pushing toward their goal.
Q: How do I qualify for Rewards? A: At its core WWTW is a fundraising campaign because we are committed to keeping this important work cost-free to all of our veterans. Without your help this program would not exist; your efforts matter. To show our thanks we want to give you cool swag when you reach fundraising milestones. Every milestone ($100, $250, $500, $1000) is designed with our walkers in mind! See the “Rewards” tab above to learn about the specifics. If you are participating in a hometown in-person walk, rewards are distributed at registration. If you are walking virtually, your rewards will be mailed to you in late September.
