Sierra Cycle Challenge benefiting Disabled Sports Eastern Sierra is July 23rd – 25th.
As you know, Tiff broke her back in a ski lift accident a few years ago. As she recovered and looked to get back to the level of activity that we love so much, Disabled Sports Eastern Sierra (DSES) was there to help her get back into skiing, despite the balance and foot control issues she still had. After a couple of seasons skiing with DSES nearly every week she's able to ski all but the toughest runs. The excitement she had when she skied Mammoth's "Dave's Run" earlier this year was indescribable. And she is not alone. Tiff and I have seen a lot of smiles from the other athletes as they come back in from a great day challenging themselves.
Each year DSES holds the Sierra Cycle Challenge fundraiser, and I am participating. Tiff and I are very fortunate in that we have good jobs with good insurance so we didn't have huge medical bills or any difficulty in paying for DSES instruction. But not everyone is so fortunate. The Sierra Cycle Challenge raises money to help those in need so that no one gets turned away for financial reasons.
Please consider donating if you can. No donation is too small or to large. Any amount helps and it all adds up!!
Riders will conquer a 3-day ride circumnavigating the Glass Mountains for a worthy cause! We’ll ride 150 miles of varied terrain, over 8,000 feet of climbing, temperature drops in the mountains and temperature spikes in the desert, blazing sun, wind, and dust devils, proving, "If I can do this, I can do anything!"
Each rider raises a minimum of $1,500 for Disabled Sports Eastern Sierra and our goal is to reach $40,000! All the money we raise goes directly to the program and allows more people to enjoy the exhiliration of outdoor recreation!
