Community Impact Award

Honoring Community Members Making a Positive Impact

We live in a wonderful community of caring, involved people. Because of this, Kiwanis Club of Punta Gorda Foundation created the Community Impact Award to recognize those individuals who have made a positive impact in our community.

The nominees for the 2018 Community Impact Award are: L. Victor Desguin, Lifelong Community Activist; Joanne Winkler, Founder of Empty Bowls of Charlotte County; and Michael Riley, CCPS/BoogieMen. Each of these is well known for their service to the community, especially improving lives of children.

The honoree who raises the most funds will be announced during the Community Impact Award Dinner on Friday, September 7, 2018. Every dollar raised by the honoree is a vote; the honoree with the most votes will receive the trophy. Vote now for your favorite by purchasing tickets to the dinner, making a donation, or holding a fundraiser on their behalf.

Our goal this year is to raise $30,000 so we can grow our programs to make more kids' lives better.

Kiwanis Club of Punta Gorda Foundation

Proceeds from this event support the Kiwanis Club of Punta Gorda Foundation, Inc., a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that seeks to improve kids' lives. We give kids the opportunity to learn how to be servant leaders by sponsoring K-Kids at East Elementary School, Builders Club at Punta Gorda Middle School, and Key Club at Charlotte High School. We help fill the need for basic necessities of socks and undies through our annual Socks for Kids Fill the Trunk Car Show. At Christmastime we host Christmas @ East to give kids from hard-working, low-income families a day of fun, the ability to "purchase" Christmas gifts using a point system, and provide them with food to carry them through the Christmas break while they do not receive breakfast and lunch.

Donations made to the Kiwanis Club of Punta Gorda Foundation, Inc. are tax deductible.
