Things you need to know
This is not a competitive race. The Do or Dye 5K Fun Run/Walk is about a fun-filled day for participants of all levels. That is why we offer the opportunity to walk or run. You are welcome to time yourself but don’t expect this to be one of your faster runs. Runners can get held up while crossing through the color blast stations
Kids and strollers are welcome. We want kids to be a part of this! We recommend that your kids are properly protected with sunglasses and for toddlers and infants we suggest something to cover their mouths. The powered paint is non-toxic cornstarch but it could irritate the smaller ones, more than us.
Dogs and bikes are prohibited. For the safety of all our runners and for the dogs, NO DOGS or bikes will be allowed on the race course.
There is no age limit for younger or older runners. Children 5 years old and under are welcome to participate with their parents for FREE!
The tossing of color does not hurt in any way. The color is a very fine cornstarch powder that will simply be scooped out of a large bucket and tossed. We don’t use paint guns or anything that could bruise.
To keep the color from getting in your eyes or mouth, follow these tips. The colors are 99% food-grade cornstarch, 1 % natural colorant and are 100% natural and safe. As with any substance, you want to keep it out of your eyes. You may want to wear glasses or goggles as you run and a bandana or dust mask for your mouth. This is especially recommended for our younger runners/walkers who won’t know to close their mouths near a color station.
The color does mostly washy out after the event, but some of it can stain. As with anything, the sooner you wash it the better. We suggest you wear items that you wouldn’t mind getting the color on. We also suggest wearing a white shirt.
If you would like to preserve the color in your running shirt, spray it with vinegar and iron it before you wash it.
If you want to avoid getting the color in your car, we recommend bringing some towels to place on your car seat.
If you want to take photos while running through the color, we recommend covering cameras/phones with clear plastic. We will have an event photographer on hand but we know people love to take their own candid shots. Please know we are not responsible for any lost or damaged items.
