Empowering Children and Youth to Reshape Finance
Child and Youth Finance has launched a global Movement to increase the economic citizenship of 100 million children and youth in 100 countries by 2015. This means giving children and youth the knowledge to make wise financial decisions, the opportunity to open savings accounts, and the skills to find employment, earn a livelihood and ultimately reshape finance and break the cycle The goal of the Movement is two folded. Almost 90% of all children and youth in the world live in developing countries. One third of these children live in absolute poverty. Each year 12 million children die of the effects of poverty and malnutrition. At the same time industrial countries are struggling with high youth unemployment rates, and the trend of spending and consuming leading children and their families into debt and financially unsustainable situations. Children and youth are the next generation of economic actors whose financial decisions will dictate the future of world economies. Providing young people with the economic and social environment to prosper and the competences (financial, social and livelihoods) to thrive the next generation have the tools to reshape finance and their own future.
Reaching 100 million children and youth by 2015 is a bold goal. Currently the Movement is reaching 18 million children and youth, and even though we have come a long way since the launching in 2012 there are still many challenges ahead. In order to reach the goal we need as many possible to support the Movement. Therefore we want to ask you to Rise up with us to empower youth to Reshape Finance and fund for the Skoll Challenge - Every contribution makes a difference! For every $10 you donate, Child and Youth Finance and our partners aim to reach 200 children and youth with financial education and inclusion and simultaneously brings us one step closer to end poverty and promote financial sustainability for the next generation.
