The mission of the Center for Independence through Conductive Education is to help children with physical disabilities gain independence. We do this by developing their motor functions in a manner that creates positive self–esteem, self–direction and an “I Can!” attitude. All of our children are taught that they are valued; that each child is important and can give back to society regardless of their disability. We are committed to improving the lives of disadvantaged, under-served children with physical disabilities, with the ultimate intention of securing a better life that includes employment and independent living skills.
Since our inception in 1998, more than 600 children have received approximately $10,000,000 in charitable services. No child has ever been turned away, nor have program hours been reduced due to lack of insurance or inability to pay. The Center meets all 20 Better Business Bureau of Chicago Charity standards, is rated highly by Guidestar Charity Navigator and received a 2017 Top Non-Profit Award from Philanthropedia. We take our stewardship role of the generous donations we receive seriously.
