Those of you who know me, know the significant role a degree in Computer Science has played in my life. Even in the highly rated New York State school system, there is no teaching certificate for Computer Science. The majority of the students in New York City never have the opportunity to take a computer course before they graduate from high school.
You can only imagine how difficult it is to expose CS to underserved communities.
I jumped at the opportunity to get involved with Code/Interactive. Their programs bring Computer Science education directly to children in underserved communities, and apply it in ways the students want to use it. They teach kids how to apply their thinking to new technologies, and to explore the power of programming.
I hope you understand why this is important, and help support me give one student a year of coding for $2,500.
