NYC FOUNDATION FOR COMPUTER SCIENCE EDUCATION wrote -
The NYC Foundation For Computer Science Education (CSNYC for short) is a non-profit (501c3) with a simple mission:
To ensure that all children in the NYC public school system have access to computer science education that will put them on a pathway to academic success and a 21st century career.
Access to computer science education will ensure New York City’s 1.1 million public school students develop critical thinking and problem-solving skills and ensure that our City and nation will compete and thrive in the global marketplace.
If we want to change something as large as the NYC public school system, we need to start small but think big.
It will likely take a decade to accomplish this mission but we are committed to seeing it happen. We are raising capital, supporting a range of CS programs, helping them get uptake in NYC’s public schools, and evaluating all of them to see what works best.
So far, with initial funds raised, we have some things to show for it: 28 schools in all five boroughs have received support from CSNYC funding and programs. Now it is time for seed capital so we can replicate these programs in more schools and back new programs, like Code.org, and help them come to NYC.
So JOIN US in changing the landscape of computer science education in NYC public schools and help the kids move one step closer to a more promising future.
