EVENT: Run 4 Brad
I grew up playing sports and working out and generally leading an active lifestyle. But running? Just running for the sake of running? I can’t lie, I was never a fan of it. That day, every year, that we had to run the mile for the Presidential Physical Fitness Award was, to say the least, a loathsome day. But around the time I started law school, I decided I would supplement my fitness regimen with . . . running. And so began my relationship with running. First, just running on the treadmill or in Central Park as a part of my work out. Then, running a few New York Road Runner races on the weekends. And eventually, I became a runner.
Over the years, I’ve run numerous marathons, both here and abroad (including multiple NYC Marathons). But this will be the first time I’m running a marathon for a cause that has personally touched me.
My connection to the Run4Brad team all stems from Jess Cohen (now Berman), Brad’s wife. We went to college together at UMich but we really became friends in law school. She was a sports junkie and enthusiastic and positive about everything. I mean everything. And when I heard about the events of August 4, 2013 and how Brad and Jessica had decided to start the Run4Brad movement, I felt compelled to be a part of it. I’ve been inspired by Brad and Jessica’s strength, determination and courage and by their willingness to share their story and their dedication to helping others.
I’m excited and honored to be a part of the Run4Brad team.
