Bring Soap to the Children of Bangalore
EVENT DATE: Nov 28, 2017
DEADLINE TO GIVE: Dec 01, 2017
100% of donations made today will be MATCHED!
One donation, DOUBLE the impact.
We need YOUR help this #GivingTuesday!
Bangalore is the third most populous city in India (following Mumbai and Delhi) and is home to over 2100 over-crowded slums. With such a dense population, waste collection services are unable to keep up with the overflow of garbage. The impact? Many uncleared areas become breeding grounds for life-threatening diseases. In addition, within these low-income areas, most schools lack access to soap - the most basic form of medicine - that can prevent students from catching these preventable diseases, such as pneumonia and diarrhea.
In India alone, 1,600 children under the age of five die every day from these illnesses.
That’s where YOU come in.
Sundara is raising funds to help us open a soap-recycling workshop in Bangalore - this will be our FOURTH workshop across India.
With your support, together we will:
- Hire 6 women from underprivileged backgrounds to recycle old hotel bar soap into new, sanitized bars, plus provide hygiene education - ensuring the good habits stick.
- Distribute these new bars to 2000+ students across Bangalore slums and tribal villages
Here’s a breakdown of how your donation can have an impact:
~ $25 funds regular hygiene trainings for 1 classroom of 50 students in Bangalore for one month.
~ $50 subsidizes a month long training program for a woman from an underprivileged background to work with Sundara in Bangalore.
~ $100 funds one of our Sundara hygiene ambassadors for a month, including benefits such as health insurance for the women and their families.
~ $250 pays for one month of a teacher's salary and all educational materials used in an entire school.
Remember that 100% of donations made will be MATCHED! Your support means so much. Every donation – no matter what size – is appreciated.
