Thank you for visiting my CrowdRise page! I’m hoping to raise money for a very worthwhile charity in the Women's Cancer Research Foundation. Thank you from the bottom of my heart in advance if you should choose to support this cause! Click "See More" below to read about the 4 main reasons I chose to run for this charity.
1.The women closest to me in my life are absolutely incredible human beings and I couldn’t think of a better way to say “thank you” for them being in my life than to support a charity that seeks to reduce the risks they face in their lives.
2. In the spirit of Mother’s Day, it only seemed appropriate to choose to support a foundation that strives to reduce cancer in all mother’s both present and potential future mothers.
3. My mother-in-law is a survivor of ovarian cancer. I am constantly impressed by her strength of character and her feistiness. The way she fought and beat the biggest obstacle in her life is a constant inspiration in my own life. What better way to honor her victory than to face my own series of obstacles and simultaneously raise money for research to fight the same opponent she overcame?
4. My Aunt Joyce bravely fought a long battle with cancer and eventually lost her fight with it. I’ll be running in honor of her memory and strength.
I’ve been in serious training for the past month and a half or so and have already lost around 20 lbs. My goal is to get my weight down to 165 or 170 by race day so I can pull my body weight through some of the more intense obstacles and not fall in the mud (except for when I’m supposed to). So that’s another 13-18 lbs and a little over 2 months to do it in. Once I get to 170 I’m planning on taking several classes at a local American Ninja Warrior gym here in Mt. Laurel to build my core muscles and grip strength. My minimum goal is to finish the race and i'm hoping to successfully complete all obstacles. If all goes well in July I will be competing an a much tougher race in October. I will post updates from time to time on my progress so my supporters can make sure I'm living up to my end of the bargain.
