I am running my first marathon to benefit ALS (Lou Gehrig's Disease) Research in hope for a cure and advances in treatment to improve the lives of ALS patients and their families.
In 2012 my best friend of more than 35 years, Mike was given his diagnosis of ALS. Mike and I have been best friends since 5th grade. We grew up together, played sports together, became men together. We had secret handshakes, played ditch-em late into the nights and had many outrageous adventures. We watched eachother build careers, get married, (he was in my wedding) and have children. We travelled to watch eachother graduate from college: Princeton & USC. I was literally part of his family as he was part of mine.
Last year Tom (Mike's older brother), a marathon veteran ran LA as a fundraiser and did an amazing job. $78,000 raised. I was at the finish line with Mike and his family to celebrate the accomplishment. This year Tom challenged me, knowing I had always wanted to complete a marathon, to help raise $100,000 for ALS Research. In the past I've completed a half marathon and an olympic length triathlon.
NOW IS THE TIME and THIS IS THE CAUSE. I'm asking you to help Mike, Tom, Ryan and me reach our goal.
WE are running because they can't.
Fight On!! Pride, Poise, Courage!! etc. etc.
