One way ticket to Hopkinton
April 17, 2017
Thank you for visiting my fundraising page. I am honored to be running the 2017 Boston Marathon with Team BIDMC in support of the Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital Needham.
I started my career in Oncology Nursing at BIDMC 14 years ago knowing that I wanted to make a difference in the lives of my patients. I could not have predicted the impact those same patients would have on my life. In Oncology, we are often meeting people at the most devastating time in their lives when they are embarking on a journey requiring strength, determination, and the support of the village around them. The relationship my patients and I develop over the course of their journey often blends the clinician with the friend and we are both forever changed. They are more than just patients to me and they are the reason I am running.
Running is an outlet for the emotional burden I carry when I am overcome with the weight of my profession. The world of oncology care gives perspective to the preciousness of life. Each patient I care for reinforces the gratitude I feel for my health and my ability to lace up and head out for a run whenever I want. They are ever present in my head and heart. It is their strength and determination that support me through the miles.
My fundraising will support the patients in the community in which I live. The hospital to which I bring my own family. We at BID Needham strive to bring world class patient-centered care to the community setting. Each dollar raised will go towards improving patient care through development opportunities for staff, improvement in patient care facilities and more, all in support of world class care in your backyard.
Thank you for your support and donation.
