Hello - I am Margit Worsham, an artist living on a mountaintop in Tennessee. Since childhood, art has been an important part of my life. That's why I am asking you to support my campaign, "Arts for Kids."
Art develops problem-solving skills and abstract thinking at a young age, which are both crucial to children's future learning. More importantly, I believe kids need art because art helps us be better, stronger, more well-rounded, and confident human beings.
For 22 years Arrowmont School of Arts and Crafts has offered art classes to children in the Gatlinburg community. Over 25,000 school children have participated, and the number continues to grow. The impact of these classes is amazing. Many who are now in the work force can still tell you what they made, who they gave it to, and how they felt taking a class taught by a professional artist in a well-equipped studio at Arrowmont.
Every year, Arrowmont offers kids community classes in arts and crafts. Arrowmont charges only a modest tuition for these classes, but many parents in this community cannot pay for their child to attend. Arrowmont provides scholarships but the need is greater than we can support alone.
We want every child in the area to be able to take a class.
Please make a gift in any amount. Small gifts add up and make a big impact.
Thank you for supporting Arts for Kids,
