$20K goal for Team V
April 21, 2016
BENEFITING: The V Foundation
EVENT DATE: Nov 06, 2016
Running a marathon is one of the hardest, most challenging and yet exhilarating athletic experiences.
I ran the Boston Marathon in 2015 for The V Foundation and it was easily one of the most memorable events in my life. My wife Denise ran the Marine Corps Marathon in Washington in 2012 and did Hartford in 2013. The sense of accomplishment for both never fades. Running the 2016 New York City Marathon for The V Foundation together is something we're looking forward to with great anticipation. The ability to help cancer researchers makes the training and the race itself worth every ounce of sweat and twinge of pain. We run for so many we've known who are battling cancer, especially those who work at ESPN. My colleagues Shelley Smith, Holly Rowe, Chris Mortensen have all battled it or are continuing to do so. We run in the memory of ESPN's Stuart Scott and Leah Siegel, who I had the pleasure of working with earlier in my career at ESPN. I was able to raise a little over $5,000 running for The V Foundation doing the Dallas Half Marathon at the Final Four in 2014, raised over $13,000 for The V Foundation in Boston in 2015.
The goal for New York in November for me and Denise is to raise $20,000. With your help we can do this together.
