BENEFITING: American Foundation for Suicide Prevention
Tough Mudder began for me as a motivation to get fit but, now it's more than that! It is a motivation to raise support and awarness for the prevention of suicide. Suicide is the second leading cause of death in ages 15-34 and 10th overall (https://www.nimh.nih.gov/health/statistics/suicide/index.shtml). I have personal experience with losing a loved one in this way and I myself have struggled in the past. I know many of my friends and many people around me struggle with depression and other mental health needs which sometimes include suicidal ideation. Your life is important and meaningful and I am passionate about the education, advocacy, and encouragement that can be done to prevent suicide and help people get help.
Therefore, the charity group I have chosen to fundraise for through Tough Mudder is American Foundation for Suicide Prevention website here-
They provide education classess, mental health first aid training, volunteer opportunities, assistant in grants and research, as well as events and other ways to impact the community.
If you feel inclined, please donate to this cause. Also, if you feel extra inclined, you can join myself and my husband as we attempt a tough mudder half in October or cheer us on from the side. Contact me for more information.
