The Armed Services YMCA has been serving the military community at Camp Pendleton for the past 70 years providing over 24 unique and widely diverse programs each year to approximately 37,000 military and their family members.
Over the years, programs and services are created or changed to meeting the emergingneeds of our families. Today, the Armed Services YMCA enhances the lives of military personnel and their family members by providing programs that are focused towards the junior enlisted, by increasing their quality of life, reducing stress, and strengthening families, in helping they survive the hardships they face and provide opportunities for them to thrive.
The ASYMCA support is focused in three areas of family support, crisis support, and social and emotional support. We have expanded our family programs by adding sites located off the installation for both our preschool and after school programs to extend support to military families residing in local communities. Additionally, the School of Infantry Recreation Center has doubled in capacity to serve the needs of the students when they are not on duty. In the near future, we see emerging requirements for increased emphasis on behavior health issues, continued need to assist families with financial crisis situations, and help for those departing active duty to make a smooth transition as the Marine Corps reduces its overall strength.
