BENEFITING: ARMY RANGER LEAD THE WAY FUND
ORGANIZER: ARMY RANGER LEAD THE WAY FUND
EVENT DATE: Mar 20, 2016
Dear Family and Friends,
We hope this message finds you well. We are emailing because we have decided to run the NYC United Airlines Half Marathon on March 20, 2016 as members of the Army Ranger Lead the Way Fund team.
The Lead the Way Fund, Inc. was established to raise funds in support of families of US Army Rangers who have died, have been disabled or who are currently serving in harm's way around the world. The 75th Ranger Regiment, also known as Rangers, is an elite light infantry/special operations force of the United States Army. The regiment is the U.S. Army's premier raid force, with specialized skills that enable them to perform a variety of missions. These include direct action, airfield seizure, airborne and air assaults, special reconnaissance, personnel recovery, and high-value target raids. It operates as a special operations force under the United States Army Special Operations Command.
Lead the Way Fund provides spouses and children of deceased, disabled and active duty Rangers with assistance for health and wellness programs and other financial aid programs. Lead The Way Fund was established in Honor of Sgt. James J. Regan who was killed in Iraq while serving with Charlie company, 3rd Battalion, 75th Ranger Regiment.
Lead the Way Fund has been close to both of our hearts since we began running years ago as participants in the Lead the Way Fund's annual "Run Down Heroes Highway" in New York City. It seems only right that our first half marathon together would be back in New York City benefiting this incredible organization. The cause is now even more significant as Matt is serving as an officer in 1st Battalion, 75th Ranger Regiment.
As part of our membership on the Army Ranger Lead the Way Fund team we are asked to raise a combined goal of $3,000 for this one-of-a-kind non-profit. However, neither of us are known for doing the bare minimum and we both know our family and friends are the best out there, SO we are attempting to raise a combined goal of $5,000! Never settle right?
For us, this race is a lot more than a half marathon. It gives us an opportunity to honor the lives and sacrifices of our Special Operations warriors and their families who have given all. We are optimistic that this event will enable us to raise awareness for this remarkable organization. We ask that you join us in this effort by contributing in whatever way you can. No gift is too small and forwarding this email or spreading the message to friends and colleagues will do just as much as a financial donation.
The Lead The Way Fund is a 501c3 not for profit institution and, your contribution, received in consideration of no good or services in return, is tax deductible under applicable laws.
