On December 31 I'll be running the Brazen New Year's Eve 5K in Castro Valley, California in an effort to raise funds and awareness for the very special animals of Harvest Home Animal Sanctuary. The much-needed funds raised from this effort will go to Harvest Home's healthcare fund, which is a lifeline to aid the 200+ rescued animals who reside at the sanctuary.
Harvest Home Animal Sanctuary aids homeless and abused domestic and farmed animals in the San Francisco Bay Area and the San Joaquin Valley and assists local humane societies and rescue groups with animals--primarily farmed animals--who, due to their breed, their health, or their personality, cannot be adopted into permanent homes.
I'm no runner, so this isn't an easy task for me, but I'm thrilled to be able to participate in this run for such a wonderful cause, and I hope you'll consider making a donation in support. Here is an example of how your donations will be used:
$10 donation - Mite treatment for 40 rescued hens
$25 donation - Mohawk the potbelly pig's monthly medication
$50 donation - Spay/neuter surgery for a newly rescued bunny
$100 donation - Vet visits for two rescued foie gras ducks
$250 donation - X-rays for one of the goats

P.S. The photo is of my guinea pig Robbie who Harvest Home saved from euthanasia. He's now happily married and enjoys eating oranges, among many other things. :) Thank you Harvest Home for rescuing Robbie!!!!
