The Story

EVENT DATE: Oct 27, 2018

FUNDRAISER SET UP DEADLINE: Nov 05, 2018

Thank you for joining this very important and fun cause!

Need help getting started? Call us at 858-705-4649 or 612-245-1567 or email us at doginfo@labsandmore.org. We are standing by to help you.

The love of a dog is free but those that are in need of rescue have a cost.

There is so much that goes into rescuing just one dog in need. Like; medical supplies, food, bedding, Veterinary care, and other needs for the dogs until adopted that require significant funding beyond what we can provide. That is where your help comes in.

Each day we receive photos of dogs in need. Some in shelters, some in homes with families unable to keep them, and then there are those living on the streets injured, suffering in extreme conditions and delivering babies in the hardest of situations. Many of these moms are starving themselves, trying to feed a litter of pups. They are barely managing to survive and we often have only a day or two to rescue them before they fail in the elements.

You can help us provide the needed care by supporting the 6th Annual Howl-O-Ween Mutt Run Fundraising 5K. We are preparing to have over 400 people participate in the race and we'd like to count on you. Your support this year will allow us to save 1,500 dogs in need in the next 12 months.

  • Lapis (the white dog in the photos) has a story that you won’t forget and neither will we. She was being beaten with a shovel when someone rushed to her aid. Sadly for Lapis her body was badly beaten and several of her bones were broken. When she arrived at Labs and More her leg was severely infected with multiple breaks and she was very weak. We attempted to save her leg but the infection was just too much for her frail body and her leg had to be removed. Today she is recovering in the arms of a caring Volunteer who will see her through.

We believe that every dog deserves a dignified existence, regardless of his or her age, health, or history. Dogs are resilient creatures that when treated with love, a soft bed, and proper medical care, can be integrated into a home to bond with their forever family.

  • These 11 puppies (puppies in the cave) were delivered in this cave alongside a remote road. Mom was scavenging for food along the road when someone noticed she must be breast feeding and followed her back to the cave and was surprised to see 11 babies. These pups were immediately loaded up and found their way to Labs and More. They were undernourished and sick but are on the road to recovery and will soon find their forever family.
  • "My mama (said the bottle feeding pup, held in arms and after photo with the flowers) was found living in a box trying to find shelter in 110 degree weather before she delivered me and my 10 siblings. Lucky for us my mom found her way to be saved by Labs and More. We were the lucky ones. Some of her friends were not so lucky …but we were. We were born in this nice cool house with a lady who helped us from day one. My mommy was too weak to feed us so our human mom made up these scrumptious bottles that helped us grow big and strong. She hugged on us lots and we fell in love with her. Me and my brothers and sisters grew up big and strong and we found our forever homes! My mama got better too. I guess it’s because of nice people like you who helped us to live. We love you too!"

We arrive in all shapes and sizes and conditions. This little guy (black bottle feeding pup) arrived with no mom. Without the care of fosters, who bottle feed every 3-4 hours, even through the night, these babies stand no chance.

  • Sweet boy (black pup in the arms of his foster) arrived with many injuries but it is his eyes that say it all. Scared but thankful to be in loving arms he has, for the first time in his life, felt love and in return he trusts her. We will never fully understand the love of dogs with humankind.

Come join the Mutt Run or create your Fundraising account. It is super easy and we are here to help get you started. You’ll be their hero saving dogs like Lapis from cruelty and suffering giving them hope. You will make our community a better, more compassionate place to live.

Your help will make a difference so sign up today to run and start a Fundraising page. Even better there will be adoptable dogs and pups for you to see the day of the event. Check out the doggie  Howl-O-Ween Costume Contest with prizes!  Even better quench your thirst in the Beer Garden!  See you October 27th!
