For many years, the Medinger Family (back when we were just a party of 4) gathered together in Towson on Father's Day to run a fun 5K race. It was a great way to spend time together as a family and celebrate our dynamic dad. The race benefitted GMBC's NICU and we always delighted in seeing the "alumni" of the NICU riding in wagons, sitting up in strollers and walking/running with their families. We loved seeing the sweet babies (and big kids) and their joyful, grateful parents. We saw the hugs and tears of gratitude and joy but we didn't truly understand what a gift the GBMC NICU was at that time.
Flash forward to March 26, 2016......quite unexpectedly Michael Gerald Medinger, the son of my brother, Jason, and and his wife, Kelly, was born at just 24 weeks, 6 days. Miracle of all miracles he was born at GBMC. After his dramatic entrance, he was rushed immediately to the NICU. He is there today and receiving the most excellent care from some of the most amazing people on this Earth. Our family could not be any more grateful to God for all the many gifts and blessings since that day. We are especially grateful for this amazing hospital and all the NICU has to support them both physically and emotionally. Michael certainly has ups and downs and still has some battles ahead but the staff at GBMC is always there with answers and high quality care in every regard.
We intend to run this race again this year on June 19, 2016. We will be running (and walking!) for Team Miraculous Michael. He is our family's little miracle and we can think of no better way to celebrate my brother's first Father's Day than taking part in this race. Please join us!
Go Team Miraculous MICHAEL!
